The photo below shows the view from our deck early one winter morning!

Nunyara is located on a ridge with far reaching views towards Mt Tamborine (to the South) and North Stradbroke Island (to the Northeast).

The area is classed as Dry Rainforest and is very rural in nature. However, Nunyara is just a short drive to nearby shops. A car is needed however and the acreage is accessible by 4WD.

We have two dams on the property. The storms of November 2008 filled them both to the brim. Here is the lower dam (above) at its highest since we have lived here. The Top dam is shown below. As you can see, a lot of damage was caused by the verocity of the storms! Since then, we have replanted fallen trees with more natives and dam levels are back to normal.

We are fortunate in having wide vista's. The sunrises and sunsets are often spectacular.

Sunset at Nunyara

Nunyara means The Healing Place. An apt name given both of our personal histories! As they say, there is a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow!

The house is a Queenslander colonial pole house accessed by a door from the carport for guests at Nunyara Retreat or by a bridge from the main road for personal visitors. Here you can see one of our two fierce guard dogs, Sarah and Mollie- Maltese Shitzhu's, waiting to lick any potential visitor to death.

We have placed several benches at various favourite places on the property. Visitors are free to roam and enjoy a picnic or just relax in amongst the forest enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of nature.

We are active members of Wildcare and we rescue and rehabilitate native wildlife. We do not treat these as pets and our mission is to release them back into the wild. Visitors to Nunyara may see some of these rehabilitated animals on the property.

The smell of Frangipani's is wonderful. We have a number of trees with different colours.

This is our view from the deck. The range of hills in the distance are part of The Lamington National park. The weather was wonderfully warm but just two hours later......

This picture shows the first of the severe storms on Sunday 16th November. The temp was 35C with no wind. 10 minutes later, the wind was gale force, temp about 18C and it was pouring down. Very dramatic.
